JURASSIC COAST EXHIBITION | Year Two

Sunday 21st to Wednesday 24th October 2018
Symondsbury Tithe Barn, Bridport, Dorset DT6 6HG

“As a landscape painter I’m spoilt for choice when it comes to finding spectacular landscapes to paint, and the Dorset coastline doesn’t disappoint. Over the past year I’ve been painting the West Dorset section of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. I’ve spent time walking, running and even kayaking along this stunning coastline to gain an understanding of its geology, history and people.”

The JURASSIC COAST, 95 Miles in Paint

Friday 1st June to Friday 31st August 2018
Lyme Regis Museum, Lyme Regis DT7 3QA

I’ve known the Jurassic Coast for over 20 years but I’m only now exploring its geology. When an artist studies life drawing, they are encouraged to look at the anatomy of the human figure. As with drawing the human figure, painting this coastline without an understanding of its geology would be difficult because the landscape would then be just a view. Landscapes actually are full of history, drama, emotion and life.

“DARTMOOR”

Saturday 29th October to Friday 4th November 2016
The Gallery, Hind St, Ottery St Mary

Colin has spent the last year working on the moor, sketching and taking photographs and it has changed the way he looks at its landscape.

By constantly recording the ever-changing atmosphere, Colin discovered a wealth of colour, texture, pattern and light.

Dartmoor at its best.

“Paintings South West”

Saturday 31st October to Friday 6th November 2015
Kennaway House, Sidmouth EX10 8NG

Thank you to everyone who attended Colin Bentley’s hugely successful exhibition “Paintings of the South West Coast” at Kennaway House, Sidmouth.

Colin sold 31 paintings during the week and he says he was ‘overwhelmed’ by the reaction of the visitors to his show.

For a first ‘solo’ exhibition, this must be one of the most successful shows by a fine artist in Devon in recent years.
