Portraits

” It was during the pandemic that I found myself having the time to concentrate on portraiture. I’d spend very long days practising, painting and repainting many of the portraits that were in my studio. Sometimes, I’d spend 12 hours a day reworking portraits to solve the technical problems that I could see within the detail.”\

I really worked hard on the details in the important ares, such as the eyes and the mouth. I always find that the eyes really bring a portrait alive. There is something very special about looking into someone’s eyes – there is a deep connection.

I now have a greater understanding of the painting process, and this allows me to capture the person in the portrait, and some of their character. I want my portraits to not only look like the person I’m painting but also give an insight into their personality.
